Bio

  

Maggie Wheeler was born and raised in New York City. 

Her earliest professional work was as a voice over artist doing multiple radio spots for clients such as CBS records  and MTV .  

In the mid 80's Maggie landed a role in the ensemble cast of The New Show, a prime time sketch comedy show for NBC, directed by Lorne Michaels of SNL.  

In the years that followed Maggie went on to work as a voice over artist for the great animation company Rankin / Bass. Maggie voiced all the female characters on the super hero cartoon, Silverhawks as as well as voicing multiple characters of every gender on the series The Comic Strip

She went on to make the movie New Year's Day, shot in NYC with independent film director Henry Jaglom. Maggie won the Best Actress Award at the Cinetex Comedy Festival in Las Vegas for her performance.  The film was also  chosen to  represent the U.S. at the Venice Film Festival. As a result Maggie had the great honor of being a guest on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson

After appearing in many television shows including L.A. Law,  Doogie Howser, M.D,  Dream On,  Seinfeld  &  Ellen , Maggie landed the role of Janice on Friends  for which she is best known. 

What started out as a guest spot on a single episode turned into a ten season recurring role that has made its way into television history. Simultaneously she was filming episodes in another recurring role on the CBS hit Everybody Loves Raymond as Linda Gruenfelder. 

Maggie has appeared in numerous television shows including, Shameless,  Maron,  Curb Your Enthusiasm, Californication,  Friends,  Everybody Loves Raymond, Will & Grace,  The X-Files,  How I Met Your Mother,  Without A Trace,  Friday Night LIghts,  Disney's Shake It up,  The Closer  and many more .  

Maggie also happily appeared covered in chocolate & feathers as Camp counselor Marva Junior in Disney’s remake of The Parent Trap. 

Animation is Maggie’s first love and she has voiced many animated characters. You can hear her on Dreamworks' Captain Underpants,  The Addams Family,  FX's Sterling Archer,  Nick at Nite’s Glenn Martin DDS , Disney’s Barbie of Swan Lake and Rankin / Bass Silver Hawks. She has also been heard on The Justice League,  Batman,  Lilo & Stitch and as several hopped up chickens in Dr. Doolittle 3.

In 2023 Maggie Wheeler self published her first children's book Ebeneezer Finds A Reason, a whimsical tale about a young shrew with a terrible sneezing problem. This story will delight readers from 3 - 103! The book contains beautiful illustrations full of hidden surprises by artist  M.Kyle Hollingsworth. The book also includes a QR code to an audio book recording by Maggie Wheeler, complete with an original song.

Along side her acting career Maggie has been the director of the Golden Bridge Community Choir in Hollywood with her co-director Emile Hassan Dyer.  Maggie also travels to retreat centers, universities, communities and schools to teach her a cappella vocal workshop "Singing In The Stream”, offering  the unique experience of creating music from around the world in multiple harmony parts without the use of sheet music. She teaches in the oral tradition and does so in a dynamic way that allows for singers of all levels, beginners included to accomplish great things!
